The Book Club made its debut on Tuesday the 12th November at Sauramps. The book in question was The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, a novel by Rachael Joyce which explores the importance of love and friendship in the face of suffering. We shared our personal responses to the plot, specific events and characters in the novel and the overall reaction to Joyce’s second book was overwhelmingly positive one.
In a democratic vote the Book Club’s choice for January was won by Nobel Prize winning author Alice Monro and her book, Dear Life, which is a compelling collection of short stories exploring the extraordinary lives of ordinary people. If this sounds like something that would enjoy, please come and join us to practice your English, discuss and share your ideas in a relaxed atmosphere at Sauramps (exact date to be confirmed.)
My children and I would love to join your next book Club.
Thank you
